Hello and welcome to the Premier Pool League covering the whole of Gosport and Fareham, we are The Alternate Thursday Pool League.
We set up this league so teams in Gosport and Fareham could continue to play pool using the old pub rules as an alternative to the 'World 8 Ball Federation Rules'.
We have been running for five years now and from humble beginnings we have grown into the biggest league in the Gosport and Fareham area. We started our first season with twenty-four teams playing in two divisions and we included a Team Cup and Plate competitions. We have just started our sixth Summer Season with fifty-three teams playing in seven divisions and in excess of five hundred and fifty players. In this Summer Seasons we have a Cup, Plate and two groups of Doubles.
Our league’s philosophy is and will always be that the players, through their Captains make the decisions. All changes to the rules and how the league is run are voted on by the Captains, the Committee are there only to administer the League. Also on the site you will have access to up to date league tables and fixtures. The 'Documents' section has downloadable League Tables; Fixture Lists, Results Sheet and the Team Registration Form.
Any teams wanting to join the league please email karl with the proposed teams details and I will add you to the email list to keep you up to-date with news and reminders of upcoming events such as the sign on night. Or you can fill out a Team Registration Form and bring it to the next sign on night which is 16/03/2017 between 18.30 and 19.00 followed by the Captains Meeting at The Market House tavern. The cost of joining the 2017 Summer Season will be £55.00 per team.Please note all new applications may be voted on by the league (The Team Captains). If accepted will join the league at the beginning of the next season. The new Summer season will start on 06/04/2017 and it will run for about 24 weeks and will include a Cup, a Plate and two Doubles competitions.
We are always on the lookout for sponsorship and would welcome help for the league, a division or an individual team. If there are any companies out there who feel they may be of help in any way, please contact us.
Finally, I hope we have inspired you to get your mates together and form a team to play out of your local Pub or Club and come and join us for a cracking night out. Pubs and Clubs who want to advertise for a team or players just contact Karl and we will publish you details on the website, we can also supply posters and flyers for your establishment if required.

The Stoke Snooker Club's 'Stoke Grumpy Old Men' and 'Stoke Pros' have been raising money for the 'Solent Diabetes Association'. They have so far raised: £296.29
I owe all a quick apology, I have been so busy at work and I have neglected to post a notice of bereavement. So sorry to Jeff Reed and the family of Duncan.
"Duncan Appleby, Vice Captain of ‘The New Inn 'A' Team’ has sadly passed away after being involved in a road traffic accident....a great guy, team player, personal friend and a family man. He leaves a partner, was a father to two children and step father to two more. He'll be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him." - Jeff Reed (Captain of the New Inn 'A' Team)

Sorry first off I must apologize I miscounted we have fifty three teams not fifty two so there will be four divisions of eight (one to Four) and three of seven (five to seven).
The divisions have been worked out and are now on the website. There are some new teams, these are:
David has also taken on HEDCA playing now as the GPA Elite and the Middlecroft A playing as the GPA Masters. On that point other teams have changed names and in some cases venues so please check before travelling.
Next up are the rule amendments discussed at the Captains Meeting held at the Searle’s Club on the 24th of March. These rules will come in to force from the start of the Summer Season 14/04/2016.
The new season starts on the 14th of April with the Cup and Plate split round. As usual, the Winners go into the Cup competition and the Runners-up go in to the Plate competition. As mentioned earlier, if you fail to show up for the draw (in the hope of just playing in the Plate think again) you will be eliminated from both competitions.
You may have already noticed but the new website is up and running so a big thank you to Robert who has excelled himself with this site. The website address is still the same:- thealternatethurdaypool.co.uk There are still things that need up dating and probably little tweaks that may have to happen if you think of anything we need to add or adjust please let us know.
Finally don’t forget this Thursday is the Finals and Presentation night being held at the Hill Park Memorial Working Men’s Club doors open at 19.00 matches start at 20.00. In addition we will be running a speed ball competition and Raffling off a £200.00 Peradon Saturn ¾ pool cue with runners up prises of various bottles of sprits.

Well times up the book is closed, the league has 52 teams for the 2016 Summer Season. There will be 3 divisions of 8 (1-3) and four divisions of 7 (4-7). Could any team that have not yet paid please contact me to arrange payment or meet me in the Solent Social Club on Thursday the 31st, I’ll be there from 18.00. If any team still owes for deposits or doubles again could you bring it along on Thursday.

If you wish to fill in your Registration Form and Results Sheet on your PC (before signing and handing them in) and you don't have MS Word installed then you could use Googles online application 'Google Docs' to fill in the form. Its very simple to use and you can find Google Docs here.
